Measuring the Knowledge of Verb-Noun Collocations of EFL Saudi Female Students

الملخص

Abstract This study aimed at measuring the knowledge of verb-noun collocations of EFL Saudi female students at two different academic levels. It also sought to examine whether there is a relationship between Students' knowledge of verb- noun lexical collocations and their academic level. Participants were 40 female Saudi students majoring in at the Department of English Language and Literature at Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University . Their knowledge of collocations was measured by a fill-in-the-blank Test of Collocations that consisted of twenty items, each of which contained a verb- noun collocation with the verb missing but the first letter / phoneme provided. Results of the statistical analysis showed that there was a positive relationship between students` knowledge of collocations and their respective academic level
