Abstract
ABSTRACT The Web gained its popularity by its commitment to standards, interactivity and availability on virtually all computer platforms. It is no wonder so many businesses are turning to Web-based tools and Web-enabling enterprise legacy information systems. With those tools implemented on the corporate INTRANET, system developers and administrators will have the chance to improve productivity and easily develop enhancement and tuning Web-based tools, meeting their special needs. In the work place, database administrators of IBM DB2 for z/OS (a mainframe-based database management system) are limited with restrictions they cannot step over. Therefore, and beside other requirements for a DataBase Administrator (DBA), this project will make the job of a DBA easier, faster, more accurate and more productive. The need for this solution came from the fact that DBAs need more flexible methods to manage a database management system (DBMS), and need a system to generate customized reports. The available Web commercial tools are too expensive and do not satisfy the need of a DBA. Starting from this view, the project's target is to satisfy the business needs of a DBA.
