Abstract

Cyclohexane oxidation is a challenging task in petrochemical industry. Therefore; multidimensional approaches have been adapted, among them is the metalloenzyme mimic oxidation approach. Keeping the importance of metalloproteins in mind, we synthesized the transition metal complexes using alanine and phenylalanine as ligands in order to obtain suitable catalysts towards the oxidation of cyclohexane. The work presented in this dissertation describes the synthesis of Mn, Fe, Co, Ni and Zn metal complexes using alanine and phenylalanine as ligands. The amino acids, alanine and phenylalanine were also converted to their Schiff bases using salicylaldehyde. These Schiff bases were complexed with FeCl3 to afford Schiff base complex. The synthesized complexes were fully characterized by IR, NMR, Photoluminescence (PL), UV, XRD and SEM – EDX analysis. While, the Schiff base...
