Abstract

New N- phenylpyridinium derivatives were synthesized, and their structures were elucidated using elemental analyses, IR, NMR and UV-visible spectroscopy. The electronic absorption spectra of the reported compounds were measured in organic solvents of different polarity (ethanol, cyclohexane, CH2Cl2, THF, DMF, and CCl4) at pH range. The different absorption bands are assigned to the corresponding electronic transitions, the solvent effect on the charge transition (CT) band energy is also discussed. The kinetics of the reaction of compounds under investigation with metal ions Fe2+ Cu 2+ and V 3+ using conductivity and spectroscopic methods were studied at different temperatures. It was found that the conductivity method is abetter than spectroscopy method. The thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) were employed to the solid state of the compounds- metals complexes. The activation energy and thermodynamic parameter were computed.
